Journal Prompt – Draw a floorplan

February 29th, 2008 · 1 Comment

A great way to bring back memories of places you have visited or lived in, is to draw a floorplan – as shown in these two wonderful examples -

“All of us have special places that we want to remember…I was thinking about our 1st home in Yokuska, Japan…..40 years ago. I really wanted to remember the floor plan and as much of what we had in there…
It was a struggle to pull all of these old memories out of my brain….but on the most part, this was successful.”

“I decided to do a spread of our city home before we moved to our final home in the country. It was enjoyable to try to remember all the details. Even talked to my Mom for a little help remembering.”

Online interview with Dan Price

February 20th, 2008 · No Comments

Dan Price was one of my original inspirations for starting a journal. For the last 10 years he has been keeping a daily journal of his life and publishing it as a Zine called Moonlight Chronicles.

This is a fascinating interview with Dan, and is especially interesting to watch if you feel you can’t draw, he talks us through how he started and gained inspiration from his then 4 year old son (this is near the end of the video)

When I was A Little Girl by Jan Allsopp – Visual Journal

February 6th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Jan has created a great journal page of her likes and dislikes as a young girl. I love the way she has chosen to depict herself as a paper doll – itself a memory from childhood…
