So, here is a challenge for you all – to sketch your favourite sketching supplies.  What are the items you use most when sketching ‘out-and-about’?

Vicky has has come up with some innovative uses for a sock cuff and an SD card holder… and created a wonderful journal page too.

“… I went through all the other art toys, sorting out what to store in my daily bag (more art supplies purse now), and what to store in the pockets of the folding chair Bill gave me for my birthday.

There are several added options for the daily bag, depending on whether I know I’ll have some sketching time, or whether it will be just unplanned moments while I’m out.

I especially like the useful unexpected items: a discarded PDA case holds pens & brushes upright in my bag (easy to grab), an SD card case is perfect for a tiny bit of kneaded eraser, the proxy brush works great at lifting watercolor for highlights or correction, the sock cuff controls my brush’s moisture as well as an area to clean a brush. And I found the idea for a travel brush pack in a book, then sewed one from a piece of suede leather. Very handy! You can just use regular brushes cut short to fit – it folds up to keep them safe. “

So, what’s in your art bag?  Create a sketch, or take a photo and send it to Journal Craft Submissions, or simply leave a comment below.  Share with us your essentials, and your favourites and tell us why.  Let’s see if we can come up with any more innovative ideas.
